You might remember the board held a daytime work session in November in addition to its evening meeting. One community member wrote to the board, requesting that the work session in November be livestreamed, and I brought it up as an added agenda item, but unfortunately, the board was not willing to discuss or vote about whether that should be done. However, a citizen attended the work session, staying for all of the nearly-7 hour meeting, and he recorded it. I believe those videos are going to be made public soon; as I find out more information, I will definitely share it so you can view it.
On that day of the work session, we revised some policies, heard several helpful updates about our Learning department and the incredible efforts being invested in helping our students continue to progress, heard about some exciting new developments in our growing FFA program, received updates on budget items, and discussed budgets and salaries and stipends. Those work sessions really give a great view of the District. It’s worth checking out the videos so you can know what is happening in the District!
At the November evening meeting, several items were presented, including building improvement plans and an added stipend for directors who earn a Master’s degree, and there was also a hearty discussion on the issue of weighted grades and student ranking. There are links to the various reports and updates on the Agenda at https://simbli.eboardsolutions.com/SB_Meetings/ViewMeeting.aspx?S=99&MID=21788, and the meeting itself can be seen at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjt_WD1M6BU&list=PLmr69vd6v4J4lqZDatLAttxOsiNoT_9Qr&index=1 (the discussion ranking begins around 1:30:25)
The most time-sensitive news for this post is that filing for candidates to be elected to the Board of Education starts at 8am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Interested persons must go to the District Office to apply, and, while candidate filing for most municipal offices is open for all 3 weeks, the school board filing is open for only two weeks since school is closed for Christmas break beginning Dec. 22. It is also open for one last hour on Dec. 30, 2025, from 4pm to 5pm, specifically so candidates can file on the last day. Much more information can be found about requirements and procedures to be elected to the school board on the school website at https://www.ozarktigers.org/school-board/board-of-education-candidates
As a reminder, what I speak and write represents solely my personal views,
and I do not intend to represent the Board to you in any post or comment.
I do, however, fully intend to represent YOU to the Board!
